Wisdom from the Word

I am so grateful for God’s Word. His Bible is powerful to teach us and lead us.
I read a great passage this morning for my time in the Word. Luke 8 is on the sower of the seed. In verse 15 it says, “ But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.” This reminds me of what we’re trying to do in our grp. Hear the Word & retain it. How valuable it is for our fruitfulness to be good listeners of the Word and people who hold on to what we’ve heard.

The warning is in the previous verse. Fourteen says that, “life worries, riches and pleasures,” ruin the harvest in our lives. At issue for you and me is these things. Will I worry about paying my bills? Will I become self-absorbed in entertainment? Will I worry more about my 401k?I have noticed how easily these things creep in to my life, under the radar.
Let’s commit ourselves to getting into a place where we can absorb the Bible. We desperately need it in these tough times. Let’s encourage our people to get their noses into it daily.
