What I Need

This week I’ve run into a couple passages I’ve enjoyed. I came on it in a funny way. The first couple days nothing hit me as I read. I forced myself to write down a verse that I thought was significant. The next day the same thing happened and I wrote down another verse.

Yet something was different this time. I remembered at sometime during that second day that these verses had something in common.

Day 1 — Ps 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Day 2 — Ps 35:28 “My tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long.”

There is something so good about being in a state of praise. It is so peaceful, so right about worshipping God. And I need to be there often. Its how the Lord has made us.

Two days later I ran into this verse. It is the way I am to praise him. Ps 36:5, 6 “Your love O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep.

Those four words kept rolling through my mind throughout the day. God is good. This is how he is good: Love, Faithful, Righteous, Just. These things need to be continually in my mouth. I don’t do it near enough. But when I do get there its wonderful.

Tell us what you’re learning.
