Trust vs. Demanding, part 2

Ps 78: 17-18 “But they continued to sin against him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High. They willfully put God to the test by demanding the food they craved.”

This issue of trust vs demanding comes up in a lot of ways. I was thinking last night of another way we are put to the test. When we begin the comparison game, looking at other’s lives and wishing ours was more like theirs, we can easily start down a path of not wanting to trust.

One person you know is going on a great vacation or gets a job promotion or their kids are excelling to some notoriety. Subtly you look at your own life. You see these things are those areas the Lord has asked you to walk by faith. You don’t have them. Your journey of faith the Lord has you on does not include those. If we’re not careful we can move into demanding from the Lord that we get these. We can fold our arms and say we’re not playing until the Lord gives us these.

That’s how demanding creeps back into our life. Comparison robs us of the beauty of a life of faith.

How have you seen this demanding come up?
