What gets you pumped?

What gets you up excited? What is something that makes you smile?

I know I’m enthused when I get go for a run or I get a project done. I love delivering a great word from the Lord, something I’ve been thinking about and studying about. I get a big smile of my face when I see the first crocus and then the first daffodil. Spring is just fantastic in the north. I get fired up hopping in the car to go on vacation with my girls.

So what about you? What thrills you?

What would Jesus want us to be pumped by?

Luke 10:20 “Nevertheless, do not rejoice that  the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names stand written in heaven.” NET

Jesus made these comments to his followers after they returned from their second missionary. They were fired up that God had used them. They couldn’t believe that even demons had submitted to them! Wow that was a day. They had to feel so excited that they had done something so powerful, so important.

Ministry can do that to us. When we help, when we aid someone we can subtly become more excited about God using us. Jesus’ caution to us is, “Be more thrilled about your salvation. Be more fired up about the gospel activity in your life.” We can’t walk past our salvation and yawn. It needs to be the premier thought in our minds. We are reconciled. We are forgiven. We have been given life, grace and so much. Get thrilled with your name written in the book of Life. This is what should cause us to be joyful.

Here’s one parallel verse given to me by my friend Doug Clark. Jeremiah 9:23-24

The LORD says,

“Wise people should not boast that they are wise.

Powerful people should not boast that they are powerful.

Rich people should not boast that they are rich.

If people want to boast, they should boast about this:

They should boast that they understand and know me.

They should boast that they know and understand

that I, the LORD, act out of faithfulness, fairness, and justice in the earth

and that I desire people to do these things,”

  1. Tim Rich says:

The disciples really learned what Jesus was talking about after He was gone, and they were preaching and teaching to others about the salvation Jesus was talking about to them.
Being a leader and teacher about what Jesus has done for me is the highest form of learning and realization of what He really did for me. Time goes by quickly when I’m preparing things from the Bible for our studies in our Home Group.
Blessed be the name of the Lord
