Do you have what it takes?
Do you have IT? Can you get done what is before you? Is there a big project that is going to be a challenge? Is there a difficult issue you are battling with your kids?
Many kinds of challenges come at us. The question remains …do you have what it takes?
As a kid I faced one of the most difficult challenges of my life. I was struggling academically. I was under performing so in the middle of second grade I was put back to first. Long term it did help but as a child I knew I didn’t have what it takes. Those perceived failures can dog us for years. I know it did me and I bet that’s true for you too.
If all we had was our own effort or cleverness we would be in trouble. Yet we know that is not the whole story.
2 Corinthians 3:5 NIV
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.
The great news is that God is able. He is the one who is competent, not us. We don’t have to strive or fret over whether we can do it. The Lord has made us capable of accomplishing his will. Everyone of our gifts and abilities have been given to us by the Spirit. He has given us the exact mix of gifts. We did not find them or develop them. Our talents are gifts for us to use for the greater good. (See 1Cor12)
The Lord told the disciples that they would do even greater things than he did! We have been given much power. So yes we do have what it takes. We can, only through Jesus, do incredible acts for the Kingdom. We can do it! Our competency comes from Christ.
