NT reading for week of Oct 2nd

I benefited this week from studying our chapters. One of the methods I used was outlining. It helps me to attempt to look at how the whole chapter fits together. Some times at first reading it is not clear how it all fits. However, when I took the time to read and re-read I could begin to see some connections with the flow of the thinking. Give it a try this week.

Monday 1Thes 5.

Tuesday 2Thes 1.

Wednesday 2Thes 2.

Thursday 2Thes3.

Friday 1Tim 1.

My King James Bible doesn’t differentiate between Jesus coming in the Clouds at the time of the Rapture and his coming for the Battle of Armagheddon at the end of tribulation. In the margins there’s reference to “Second Coming” for 1 Thes. 5: 1-1-3…I feel it’s the Rapture…what say you?

Also, I really like vs. 16-18…Be joyful, pray and give thanks ! That kind of says it all

This is a great chapter on future things. One that is much debated depending on where you land on Pre-trib or Post-trib. I always encourage grace for both camps as they decide how they interpret what the text is saying. That said, I do think it is about the rapture. I encourage you to read “Contstable’s Notes” at http://net.bible.org/#!bible/1+Thessalonians+5:1 . He does a nice job explaining the difficulty whether it is the rapture or the second coming.

    My outline for 2Thes2

v1-2 ..Don’t worry that you’ve missed the Day of the Lord.

v3-12 ..That day won’t come until the lawless one is revealed and then the Lord’s Day comes when he will judge.

v13-17 ..Therefore rejoice because of your faith and sanctification you’ll be saved and may the Lord help you be ready.

    My key verse
2:15 Therefore, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold on to the traditions that we taught you, whether by speech or by letter.
